Abstract

This work deals with the implementation of fault-tolerant distributed supervisory control of Discrete Event Systems (DES). A virtual plant of the Factory I/O software is used as a case study. Using the supervisor localization approach, modular supervisors were obtained that guarantee a correct nominal behavior, free of errors and blocking, for the closed-loop plant. For fault tolerance, the fault-hiding approach was adopted, in which a reconfiguration block between plant and supervisors is used. The fault tolerant control structure was implemented in PLC using Function Blocks and the communication between the PLC and the virtual plant was done via OPC-UA communication protocol.
