Abstract

This article presents the tuning and implementation of a generalized predictive controller to control and simulate a reverse osmosis desalination plant. The strategy proposes controlling the flow and conductivity of the water produced in the process by manipulating the pressure and pH of the system’s feed water. later, it is compared to a conventional Proportional Integral-Differential controller. The results show that the structure proposed in this paper presents a faster disturbance rejection in both the flux and conductivity loops and better performance indices for most stages.
