Abstract

This paper presents a fast-decoupled state estimation method for interconnected transmission and distribution systems (T&D). The proposed approach is based on an innovative application of the complex normalization per unit that, in addition to enabling the use of decoupled methods in distribution systems, allows the processing of interconnected T&D networks without resorting to compensation techniques in the border buses, which brings robustness to the iterative process. To assess the effectiveness and performance of the new approach, simulations were performed on an IEEE-14 bus system connected to two 69-bus systems.
