Abstract
The application of energy consumption monitoring tools is very important for understanding behavioral patterns, problems and inefficiencies of the monitored system. Considering the carbon emissions, water and energy consumption pillar defined in the most prominent smart campus models in literature, specifically those involving aspects related to energy generation, distribution and consumption, involving information from: renewable energy use; energy generation process; performance of distribution networks (electricity, water, gas), etc., energy monitoring is a vital component within this structural pillar of a smart campus. Besides its importance, this theme is still little addressed on the literature, specially on the brazilian scenario and with use in conjunction with IoT frameworks, a relatively new concept in the area. Taking this into account, this paper details the electrical energy quality monitoring system developed for application in conjunction with the IoT architecture applied in the smart campus concept developed at the Institute of Science and Technology of Sorocaba (ICTS) - UNESP. Its construction was carried out utilizing the pre-existing energy measurement and generation structure at the campus, combined with the use of open source softwares, which allowed a low cost implementation of the monitoring . The presented system proved itself to be robust and allowed for a greater monitoring and control of the electrical energy quality of the campus.
