Abstract

Precision agriculture brought technological advances that allowed increasing food production. However, its technologies are expensive and inaccessible to small producers, causing them to lose competitiveness, have lower production yields, in addition to health risks for producers and consumers. This work presents a model for solenoid valves for application to the variable rate of spray nozzles by pulse width modulation. The estimation of physical parameters and model validation are performed through experiments. Results indicate that normally open solenoid valves exhibit better performance than normally closed valves in applications that require faster response times.
