Abstract

This work proposes a formulation for the minimum load and generation sheddings, as well as the use of an energy storage system in electrical energy networks, to allow the maintenance of frequency within safe limits. To this end, an optimization problem was formulated that considers the particularities of wind generators as well as the droop characteristics of dispatchable generators. In addition, the charging/discharging of a battery was modeled considering its state of charge. The approach is applied to an isolated microgrid considering a planning horizon of 24 hours and residential load profile. For the optimal identification of the shedding, it was decided to use the meta-heuristic algorithm Particle Swarm.
