Abstract
The main advantage of using the Doubly-fed Induction Generator - DFIG, in wind power generation systems with variable speed, is that the power electronics used correspond only to a fraction of the generator’s nominal power, considering that only the slip power it is processed by the static converter connected to the rotor circuit. This paper covers details from the steps of mathematical modeling of the converters and design of the controllers, to the characterization of the prototype commissioned to carry out the study. Experimental results obtained in a 10kW DFIG are shown, and transient analyzes under different conditions preceding the stator connection with the electrical grid are discussed to validate the effectiveness of the control strategies used. Such conditions involve the parallelism with differences between the voltage amplitudes of the grid and the stator, and the parallelism with speed different from the synchronous one.
