Abstract

The maintenance of electrical network equipment becomes important to preserve their lifespan and should be carried out without compromising power system operation reliability. The agents that own transmission equipment deal with the maintenance scheduling problem having as priority the minimization of costs related to logistics and forced outages. They have to submit their maintenance requests to the independent system operator, who is responsible for analyzing them and establishing an integrated maintenance schedule. This is done by performing operation planning studies that seek safe and reliable operating scenarios in which network equipment are out of service for maintenance. This work presents a methodology for scheduling the maintenance of electrical transmission network equipment, with the objective of preserving system operation security as much as possible. Test results obtained for a benchmark test system illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
