Abstract

In this paper, the exploration of the complementarity between renewable sources to improve the use of the transmission capacity contracted by the generating agent considering the new rules established by the Brazilian regulatory body is proposed. To quantify the complementarity between sources, the Pearson coefficient is used. The results of the case study prove that the exploitation of complementarity through the implementation of hybrid projects based on renewable energy sources leads to significant gains in the exploitation of the transmission contract, thus bringing benefits to the generating agent.
