Abstract

Switched capacitor converters play an important role in various applications in power electronics. Voltage equalizers are one of them, and have been applied for partial shading compensation in photovoltaic systems. In other works, the switched capacitor, have been improved with the addition of a small inductor, becoming a resonant converter with many advantages compared to switched capacitor. However, this converter can still be improved in many aspects, rather in its effective resistance, equalized voltage drop, and current stress. In this paper, a novel Coupled Inductor Resonant Switched Capacitor voltage equalizer is proposed. The comparison between all circuits here studied is developed through simulation results. Also, the proposed circuit experiment results are presented. At the end, conclusions summing the paper contribution are made.
