Abstract

This work presents a methodology to select the inductors and the output capacitor for a N-branch interleaved buck converter for electric vehicle charging applications. Using this analysis, its possible to specify the passive components so that the output ripple of the current is below a certain limit, as defined in the IEC 61851-23:2014 standard for electrical vehicles charging. Additionally, it is presented a methodology to define the critical current in each inductor for operation in continuous current mode. Simulations results are shown to validate the proposed design technique and control algorithm.
