Abstract

Nonlinearities such as dead zone and time delay are, in general, present in real physical systems. They have several adverse effects, affecting the performance of control systems, which can lead to instability. In this context, the objective of this work is to present a second order systems control strategy based on a filtered Smith predictor approach for time delay compensation, including dead zone compensation using inverse function in system state feedback, using receptance approach at the frequency domain. Such proposal uses a filtered prediction error that considers the effects of these non-linearities, and can be applied to mitigate the undesired effect of weakly damped eigenvalues. A numerical experiment is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
